FAQ: Product

Q: Which compliance requirements can Inspekt help me meet?

A: The most common is PCI (Payment Card Industry), but with most regulatory requirements that require you to store, manage, analyze, or react to log entries or security incidents, Inspekt can help you meet these.

Q: If I need Inspekt to look at my logs, what security precautions have you made to ensure the confidentiality of my logs?

A: Every single employee has NATO security clearance (NATO SECRET or higher). The SOC itself is protected by proximity cards and key codes, security cameras, and patrols by licensed guards. And at no time will confidential material exist anywhere else than on our secure servers. Even logins to your portals is protected by encryption and multi-factor authentication. In short, you can feel absolutely confident that we will do everything possible to ensure that your data and your information is secure.

Q: How can Inspekt deliver a complete log management platform at a fraction of the cost of the competitors?

A: Using a cloud based infrastructure, zero hardware deployments, and online delivery of the customer software, we keep costs down.
This really is the economies of scale. Our competitors build $40,000+ products and sell them to each customer. We have built a $2 mio product, but we sell the same product, running in the same cloud, using the same internet lines, to many customers. Since log management and analysis requires a lot of processing power and a lot of memory, installations like this are normally very expensive. However, the processing power and memory is only required at certain times – not continuously. Using a cloud-based system, we can support some impressive computational power while keeping costs low, because on average, each customer is not using this processing power for more than a few hours per day.

Q: What is cloud based computing?

A: We cannot explain it better than Wikipedia. They have an excellent article on this topic here.

Q: Where is my data stored?

A: Your data is stored on Amazon’s world renowned infrastructure – the same place the entire Amazon.com site is stored. The data is kept completely separate from other customers’ data, and has a very high reliability. Amazon has a good white paper on the security and integrity of the data in the cloud which is available here.
