Q: Is my data safe in transit between my servers and the Inspekt cloud?
A:
Yes. Using Syslog-NG Premium technology, we compress and encrypt the data before it is being transferred over the internet to our cloud. We also ensure the integrity of your data by using mutual SSL authentication between the customer and the cloud, meaning both the customer installation and the cloud must show valid SSL certificates to each other to initiate the link.
Should the link go down, we will store the data locally at the customer site for up to 5 days.
Q: Is my log data modified in any way before being stored?
A: Yes. Unfortunately not all vendors adher to the syslog RFCs. Slight differentiations in the syslog setup means we have to convert logs to the right format. This could for instance entail changing the timestamp to ISO format or adding a missing priority field. However, the message part, which is the actual log message itself is not altered in any way.
